Singer Marc Anthony’s Maestro Cares Foundation launch was right on target
It was an evening full of Latin flavor when pop star Marc Anthony launched his Maestro Cares Foundation on Monday at the Sofitel Chicago (20 E. Chestnut). Supported by co-founder Henry Cárdenas, Formula 1 driver Esteban Gutiérrez and actor Luis Guzmán, the pop star shared his plans to break ground on a 200-bed, 10-acre orphanage in the Dominican Republic this December. More than just the famous face of the organization, Anthony has dedicated his heart and soul to Maestro Cares’ efforts, personally visiting orphanages in Latin America, and he plans to send his family to volunteer during the summer. “If you unlock a kid’s potential, regardless of the circumstances, the possibilities are endless,” said Anthony. “We had to do something. It’s quite simple.”
The Sun-Times was the media sponsor of this event.
