Bulls legend Scottie Pippen took center court at the United Center on Jan. 8, but this time it was his off-the-court work that shined. The celebrated power forward — who retired in 2004 and is currently a special adviser to Chicago Bulls President Michael Reinsdorf — was honored along with his wife of 15 years, Larsa Pippen, at “An Evening with the Chicago Bulls,” a fundraiser for the Chicago Bulls Charities. More than 700 guests enjoyed dinner and entertainment on the court, and many had players like Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Rip Hamilton at their tables. But the star power wasn’t limited to players; “Chicago Fire” actor David Eigenberg emceed the benefit and brought many of the show’s cast members with him, including Taylor Kinney. When Kinney’s girlfriend, Lady Gaga, walked in halfway through dinner, the star-struck crowd had even more reason to be dazzled. The event was planned by Chicago Bulls Charities President Nancy Reinsdorf, with entertainment that included a comedy set by Gary Owen and a tribute video featuring messages from friends of the Pippens, like Kim Kardashian. Funds were raised for families and children in need in the Chicago area.
The Sun-Times was the media sponsor of this event.
