Dispatches from our Chicagoan in Hollywood, Liz Crokin
There’s only one way to describe Muse’s recent private concert after party in Hollywood: Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma Madness! The band played three shows in Los Angeles, and on Jan. 26, members held an exclusive post-show soiree at Pink Taco that attracted some serious star power. Steven Tyler, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry and Kate Hudson were among the attendees — and I got the scoop on all of them.
Steven Tyler is officially single
The Aerosmith rocker showed up without former fiancee Erin Brady and was hitting on the ladies left and right. I told him I’ll miss him on “American Idol,” and he said he definitely misses the show. I saw what looked like a beer in his hand, but the rock star has been in AA for years. Is he on the wagon, or back in the saddle again?
Katy Perry’s new man
John Mayer who? Not only was the singer-songwriter strangely absent from the exclusive bash, but Katy cozied up to a rock star that certainly wasn’t her boyfriend — she flirted and danced the night away with Muse drummer Dominic Howard. They even left at the same time. New couple alert?
I reported last week that Leonardo DiCaprio is taking a break from acting, and he confirmed to me at the party that his long-overdue time off has officially started. He was there with his close friend Kevin Connolly, wearing a newsboy cap and sporting a goatee. I told him I haven’t seen him beat boxing and singing karaoke at my neighborhood dive, which he loves. He said, “I haven’t been there in a while. I need to get back soon!”
Kate’s in love
Kate Hudson and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy have been plagued by cheating rumors in the past, but they were a picture-perfect couple at his party. The lovebirds snuggled and exchanged kisses all night. Kate clearly garners the spotlight in the relationship — she had the entire party staring at her in awe as she danced and chatted up her A-list friends. (Meanwhile, all the ladies were staring at her hot brother Oliver Hudson!) By the end of the night, she even got on the stage to DJ and threw our boy R. Kelly some love by playing his music.
The members of Muse were nice and down-to-earth — even a little oblivious as to how big of a deal they are. They’ll be in Chicago on March 4 to perform at the United Center. Don’t miss it!
