Thanks to the support of more than 500 guests, the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago was able to hit new fundraising highs at the 13th annual Gala of the Arts Sept. 5. Eventgoers filled Navy Pier’s Grand Ballroom (600 E. Grand), where they browsed the work of local and national artists before sitting down for dinner and an award presentation. WMAQ-Channel 5 anchor Allison Rosati presided over the program and presented the Mandatum Award to the Women’s Board of Catholic Charities, Lake County Services. Later, guests joined co-chairs Jerry and Christine Bern and Michael and Carol Bilder in enjoying the sounds of Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styx. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Catholic Charities’ Emergency Assistance Program, which helps Chicagoans in need pay heating bills and provides them with emergency food and clothing.
