The scene: Foodies and friends flocked to the City Gallery in the historic Water Tower (806 N. Michigan) May 15 for the launch party of “Charlie Trotter: Chef, Artist, Thinker,” an exhibit comprised of objects commemorating the famed Chicago chef’s life.
The invite list: Rochelle Trotter, executive director of Charlie Trotter’s Culinary Education Foundation, hosted the event along with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and shared unheard stories about her late husband’s career at the intimate gathering. Guests took in the display — which includes Trotter’s personal library, food photography and last-worn chef jacket — and indulged in Eat Purely’s coconut water and cherry-flavored cocktails and hors d’oeuvres inspired by Trotter’s famous cuisine.
The exhibit is free and open to the public through September 7. For more information, visit Charlietrottersculinarye
