Ever After: Christine Parker & Brad Yusim

By / Weddings / February 9, 2016

For Christine Parker and Brad Yusim, it was a match made in heaven. The 32-year-old medical saleswoman and the 39-year-old attorney met on Match.com in September 2011. The two dated a little over three years before Yusim popped the question in an elaborate proposal.

“He surprised me and got home early,” Parker says. “He pulled me into the main room and he had all these candles lit and this gorgeous bouquet of roses and a picture of us.” In fact, Yusim brought home 40 candles, 40 roses, and wrote a love note that described the 40 things he loved about this girlfriend — all symbolizing the 40 months they were together.

But the romance didn’t stop there. After popping the question, Yusim took Parker out to dinner at Sable (505 N. State), the restaurant where they had their first date. Then the lovebirds jetted off to Miami, which where they’d had their first getaway. “He put a lot of planning into it, and it was very romantic and special,” Parker says. “He went above and beyond.”

The couple wed at the Waldorf Astoria (11 E. Walton) in the Sinclair Ballroom last fall in front of 115 guests. Parker kept it simple with navy, ivory and blush touches; she let the six bridesmaids and six groomsmen pick out their own dresses and suits in the color palette. “I definitely was not that girl who had the binder and had everything figured out,” she laughs.

The classy theme carried over to the reception, where guests were delighted with music from local cover band Indigo and homemade strawberry jam as their parting gifts (made by the bride’s mother and is a nod to Parker’s home state of Michigan).

To top off the wedding bliss, Parker and Yusim took an exotic honeymoon to Southeast Asia where they laid out on the beach, rode elephants bareback and learned about the local Cambodian history.
