Southport & Irving
Said to be named after an old Irish song, the Tipperary cocktail ($10) at Southport & Irving (4000 N. Southport) features a host of ingredients that will have you singing and dancing the night away (hint: double barrel Irish whiskey, vermouth and more).
Need an excuse to indulge in a cupcake? Use St. Patrick’s Day — Sprinkles’ (50 E. Walton) Irish Chocolate treat — topped with Baileys Irish cream cheese frosting — is only available through March 20. Better yet, the specialty Green Velvet, is available one day only March 17.
Bull & Bear and Public House
Radiate Irish (or faux-Irish) spirit at River North bars Bull & Bear (431 N. Wells) and Public House (400 N. State) March 12. Opening at 12:30 p.m., both DineAmic Group locations will be offering themed drink specials like Lucky Charm shots and green beer, complemented by a special St. Patrick’s Day menu.
Honor the day of debauchery at this downtown dining spot (15 W. Illinois) with a St. Patrick’s Day celebration to remember. Start the festivities at 8 a.m. with drinks and an extensive food buffet with Irish favorites March 12 ($30) — then, refuel or cure your post-holiday hangover at Fremont’s inaugural Sunday brunch March 13. Enjoy an all-you-can-eat experience complete with a Doughnut Vault tower, waffle bar and omelette station for $35.
Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago
Take in breathtaking views of the green Chicago River in the luxury hotel’s (401 N. Wabash) event space, Bridgeview Room. For $80, St. Patrick’s Day revelers can kick off the festivities at the top o’ the morning (8 a.m.) with a decadent brunch, including American and Irish cuisine, custom Irish coffee cocktails from the Irish Coffee & Chocolate Bar, and performances by Irish dancers and bagpipe players.
