If you catch Lad singing karaoke, you won’t be disappointed. His go-to is Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual,” and “I even throw in the ‘Carlton’ dance for good measure,” he says. More from Ashvin:
Originally from: Springfield, Illinois
Greatest accomplishment: Personally, beating cancer. Professionally, earning a patent on a medical device. However, the professional one will change once we launch Breakwater Chicago! That will probably be my professional “mic drop” moment.
Biggest fear: Heights. Though I did jump out of a plane at 17,000 feet hoping I would overcome that fear. It didn’t work.
Biggest indulgence: Diet Coke. I can drink Diet Coke all day.
What makes me happiest: Life in general. It’s such a waste of time to be unhappy. But specifically, traveling and seeing the world, new experiences, good food, sharing special moments with others, sitting in my seats at Wrigley Field in Aisle 527, a nice bike ride on the lakefront, a lazy Sunday on my couch … to name a few.
Last book I read: Double Down by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin
