Rain fell on the red carpet Sunday, but that didn’t stop celebrities from showing up for stunning performances by Lady Gaga and Sting. However, nothing captivated the audience more than the fashion. Many guests chose stage-worthy styles (think Lauren Giraldo’s jeweled leotard with a train) but the looks that made the biggest statement were minimalist or monochromatic, and let the stars shine all on their own. Here are our picks for the most head-turning looks of the night.
Gigi Hadid: Even before she went onstage to host, Gigi stole the show in a sheer lace off-the-shoulder look by Roberto Cavalli. A silver choker and berry lip gave the look a playful vibe.
Ciara: The singer and expectant mother proved that nothing is more chic and flattering than an LBD. The simple turtleneck style from Stephane Rolland stood out in a sea of sparkly dresses.
Selena Gomez: After staying out of the spotlight since August, the Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist winner was back and better than ever in a polished Prada gown. But it was her glowing complexion (and inspirational speech) that made the biggest impact.
Nina Dobrev: All dressed up for a “Degrassi” reunion, Dobrev presented an award to her former co-star Drake in a gilded Zuhair Murad blazer and matching shorts. The edgy braids on one side of her head made the look concert-ready.
Rachel Platten: The singer’s deep blue Pamella Roland gown made such an enchanting statement that she got a shoutout from Gigi herself.
Halsey: Halsey took a red carpet risk — and it paid off. The “Closer” singer paired a sleek turtleneck jumpsuit, reminiscent of a Star Wars Stormtrooper, with elegant accessories like Stuart Weitzman heels and an Edie Parker Jean clutch.
