Ever After: Tristin Klaas & Kevin Eck

By / Weddings / February 9, 2017

Kevin Eck isn’t afraid to admit he bombed his first date with his wife-to-be. In July 2015, he took Tristin Klaas, 38, who works in architectural sales at tile showroom Transceramica, to Prime & Provisions (222 N. LaSalle) for a double date with a business partner and his wife. But the night didn’t go as well as he planned. “I thought he had [an] attitude,” Klaas remembers. “He wouldn’t make eye contact with me.” Eck’s business partner’s wife assured Klaas that Eck — who was featured in Splash’s Singles Issue in 2015 — was just nervous, so when he asked her out again, she agreed. They went to Prosecco (710 N. Wells), and this time, sparks flew.

As it turns out, there was magic in that second date: A little over a year later, the pair wed in an intimate ceremony at Prosecco Dec. 30. They chose to do without a wedding party or even formal décor, but rather be surrounded by their 34 closest friends and family. “Our attraction and relationship went really fast,” says Eck, 42. “Everything was just very simple.”
