TV stars and activists — think “Empire’s” Terrence Howard and Jussie Smollett and Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. — gathered to introduce renowned concert vocalists at the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Civic Opera House (20 N. Wacker) Feb. 4. The Chicago Bulls Bucket Boys drumline summoned more than 500 guests to dinner before the concert, which featured performances from rapper Lupe Fiasco, the event’s artistic director (and famed soprano) Renée Fleming, gospel/R&B singer Michelle Williams and more. Hosted by Scott and Nancy Santi and Eric and Kim Smith, the night raised more than $2 million.
