It’s a likely thought for anyone out past midnight (especially on the weekends): What’s open? Well, night owls rejoice — we’ve rounded up five restaurants serving food past 12 a.m. to satisfy any nighttime craving.
Happy Camper (above)
When it opened last year, this spot (1209 N. Wells; Happycamperchicago.com) filled a pizza-shaped void in Old Town with its meaty pies — think “The Peter” ($12) topped with pepperoni, chicken, bacon, onions, cheese and BBQ sauce. As an added touch, the unique interior features a small Camper, tire swing barstools and neon light fixtures for late-night ‘grams. Open until midnight Sunday-Wednesday, 2 a.m. Thursday-Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.
River North’s popular restaurant and wine bar (626 N. State) puts an Italian twist on late-night dining with its savory tortellini with creamy alfredo sauce and prosciutto ($13.25). Monday through Friday the full menu is only available until 1 a.m., but on Saturdays you can get your fix until 2 a.m.
Little Bad Wolf
The Andersonville gem’s (1541 W. Bryn Mawr; Littlebadwolfchicago.com) massive Wolf Burger ($16) throws three hamburger patties, bacon, cheese, onion straws, house made pickles and a fried egg into the mix for a hearty bed-time meal — but beware that the kitchen closes half an hour before close, at 1:30 a.m. Monday-Friday, 2:30 a.m. Saturday and 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
This small ramen shop (112 N. Green; Highfiveramen.com) serves up spicy and savory flavors with the High-Five signature bowl ($14) — made with bean sprouts, scallions, seasoned egg and sliced pork belly in a creamy tokotsu miso broth — that comes in mild for beginners, half spice for those looking for a kick and full spice for those who really like it hot. Open until 11 p.m. Sunday-Monday, 12 a.m. Tuesday-Wednesday and 1 a.m. Thursday-Saturday.
Cheesie’s Pub & Grub
The sandwich shop (958 W. Belmont; Cheesies.com) gives the classic grilled cheese a major upgrade. The Frenchie ($7.49) combines three different cheeses, bacon and chives between sourdough bread with a side of thick-cut French fries and a sour cream dipping sauce. If you’re feeling brave (or extra hungry) try one of Cheesie’s food challenges for the chance to win free drinks, sandwiches and merch. Open until 3 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday-Saturday.
