Hip-hop performance ensemble Kuumba Lynx performed “Move,” a hybrid presentation of poetry and dance, for the organization’s fifth annual event June 8. Executive director Claire Rice and board chair Brooke Flanagan hosted artistic, business and philanthropic leaders at The Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe), where famed soprano Renée Fleming was honored with the Creative Voice Award, and longtime supporters of the arts in Chicago Janet Carl and Mel Smith were presented with the Citizen Advocate Awards. More than $175,000 was raised for Arts Alliance Illinois, which serves to promote and support the value of local art.
