As if Nutella crepes and creamy Italian gelato weren’t enough to satiate your sweet tooth, Eataly (43 E. Ohio) just upped its dessert game with the opening of a cannoli bar late last month. The bar (located next to the gelato section) will serve the Southern Italian pastries filled-to-order with flavors like candied orange, pistachio and tiramisu.
To celebrate, Eataly also kicked off its summer cannoli series earlier this month, highlighting Chicago pastry chefs’ culinary twists on the Sicilian treat. First up were Chefs Sandra Holl of Floriole and Dana Cree of The Publican, who created blueberry and Neapolitan cheesecake cannolis, available until July 16. Starting July 17: mint chocolate chip and sesame chocolate.
Look out for Alliance Bakery’s Peter Rios and Mindy’s HotChocolate’s Mindy Segal’s iterations come August.
