There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who stick to clean lines and opulent finishes, and those who make the bold move for bright colors and playful contours. (OK maybe that’s a bit specific, but in our world it’s accurate.) Fortunately, there’s no wrong answer and Chairs for Charity is appealing to both types.
With just a few days left before the auction, we’re pitting the hottest contenders against each other. Steal a peek at the “Tsu Chair” by Blutter Shiff Design Associates and “VIVID” by M. Grace Designs Inc.
Originally belonging to the designer’s late mother, the black and white “Tsu Chair” is rooted in Asian culture but fit for modern living with a faux fur seat and black lacquer hugging the undemanding curvature finishing. Getting back to your roots has never been this chic.
On the other end of the spectrum is the rich and vibrant “VIVID” chair (pictured at top), which — despite the start of fall — is giving us major springtime vibes with flowery forms on a delicate contemporary silhouette.
See the chairs and 14 others on auction at the 8th annual Chairs for Charity event Oct. 3 (6-8:30 p.m.) at Marshall’s Landing inside the Merchandise Mart, (222 W. Merchandise Mart). Complimentary drinks and appetizers will be served and proceeds go to Designs for Dignity, an organization creating inviting environments for nonprofit organizations.
