A harmonious brass quintet rang in the first hours of fall at the CSO’s annual Symphony Ball Sept. 22. Raising more than $1.4 million for Chicago’s melodious cornerstone, 500 concert-turned-galagoers were serenaded at Orchestra Hall (220 S. Michigan) by tunes by Rossini, Tchaikovsky and Mozart — the latter performance featuring acclaimed violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter as soloist. Co-chairs Sandy and Earl J. Rusnak Jr. welcomed guests into a post-concert gala at the Four Seasons (120 E. Delaware), where patrons dined on seasonal dishes and kept the celebration of music alive with sounds of Da Fellas.
