The Jungle Book came to life Sept. 22 at the organization’s third annual party, themed “Run Wild” and inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s children’s book about Mowgli and his animal friends. Hosted by Sarah and Kerry Wood and emceed by actress Bonnie Hunt, the gala featured fire breathers, Bollywood dancers and tropical florals by Revel Decor at Morgan Manufacturing (401 N. Morgan). Laura Ferris Anderson of JP Morgan Chase received the Pitch In for Excellence Award, and $500,000 was raised for the Pitch In Program, which serves 4th through 8th graders in North Lawndale.
