Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Opening Night Gala & Opera Ball

Lyric’s 63rd season kicked off Sept. 23 when 3,500 glamorous Chicagoans walked the red carpet at the Lyric Opera House (20 N. Wacker) before the opening night performance of “Orphée et Eurydice.” Following the final act, 450 guests made their way to the Opera Ball at the Hilton Chicago (720 S. Michigan), where chairs Ellen Stirling and Mamie Biggs Case organized a dinner with music by The Stu Hirsh Orchestra and a Grand March of the Stars, emceed by Lyric General Director Anthony Freud. 

Get this: The production of “Orphée et Eurydice” — created by famed director-choreographer John Neumeier — is Lyric’s first collaboration with The Joffrey Ballet. For tickets, visit
