Pompom trims, Coco Chanel’s Parisian apartment and textiles from Marrakesh were among the inspirations for the 16 Chicago designers who went head-to-head at the eighth annual event Oct. 3. Held at Marshall’s Landing at theMART (222 W. Merchandise Mart), the competition brought together local firms like Auer Design Associates, Impact Design and Linc Thelen, who revamped vintage chairs to be auctioned off. Partygoers virtually bid on chairs — with all the proceeds benefiting Designs for Dignity — as they enjoyed cocktails by Basil Hayden’s and Chloe Prosecco at the Chicago magazine- and Splash-hosted bash. Eva Quateman Interiors’ Lola Lounge Chair won the highest bid of $1,500, and the night raised more than $9,000 for Designs for Dignity, an organization that transforms the spaces of nonprofits through pro bono design and in-kind donations.
