As “Real Housewives of New York’s” Sonja Morgan will tell you — and Page Six for that matter — Tinsley Mortimer likes to shop. The socialite and newbie housewife is such a savvy shopper that when she started courting former boyfriend and Coupon Cabin CEO, Scott Kluth, the Chicago businessman hired Mortimer as an account manager for the luxury-brand side of his discount and deals corporation. Working with companies like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barney’s, Mortimer is well credentialed to dole out some expenditure guidance as you venture into the Black Friday and Cyber Monday pandemonium.
Speaking of holiday plans, Mortimer reveals to Splash she’s been spending time with her ex in Chicago. … And we sense a reconciliation in the works. Read on as we catch up with the “Real Housewives” star.
SPLASH: Welcome back to Chicago! You’ve garnered a huge fan base in the city, how does that feel?
TINSLEY MORTIMER: Every time I’m in Chicago — I was actually just there this weekend — people are just so nice. They’re so supportive and sweet. They watch the show and feel like they’re your best friend and they know you. I love it, it’s so sweet.
S: What can we expect on Coupon Cabin between Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
TM: Black Friday typically [means] a lot of good deals in-store — but with Coupon Cabin, [those] deals are online. You don’t have to wait in line, the inventory is bigger and you can shop in the comfort of your own home. I am not one to wait in lines. I don’t wait in lines to go to a nightclub, I don’t wait in lines to go to Disney World — I don’t like a line. People who love bargains and shopping on these days — it becomes a tradition. People go and try to fight for the last Gucci bag. You can get a lot of the same deals while shopping in the comfort of your own home, wearing lululemon and UGGs and cozying up with some wine.
S: What’s the status of your relationship with Scott? Everyone’s rooting for you guys.
TM: I appreciate that. We did break up; it’s been about two and a half months. But we’re so close — I still work for his company. We talk every day. We love each other. I did just get to see him [last] weekend in Chicago. I came for work and we went to the Bulls game and we saw the Magnificent Mile lighting and the fun parade. I’m optimistic about our relationship. I’m hopeful we can work it out. Long distance was an issue — being in New York and having it be the busiest time of year for him for work [was hard], but I think we’re in good shape. I think we’re going to work things out hopefully.
