Skip the big-box stores this year and scour for unique finds at these local spots.

One of a Kind Show + Sale

The renovated Merchandise Mart welcomes more than 600 creators from across the country and beyond to this 17th annual show. Wrap up your holiday shopping — literally — with handmade gifts like jewelry, photography, home goods, ceramics and more.

Date: December 7-10

Place: theMart, 222 Merchandise Mart
Cost: $12, $20 early access. For tickets, visit Oneofakindshowchicago.com.

HoliDose

Our favorite local market goes green — and red — this month. It’s got gifts like scarves by Isabelle Gougenheim, perfume by SAOR and backpacks by UliUlia, plus booze, caroling and more. The best part? A portion of admission benefits The Kitchen Community, which introduces CPS students to healthy foods through gardening.

Date: December 10
Time: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Place: Morgan Manufacturing, 401 N. Morgan
Cost: $10, $12 at the door, kids are free. For tickets, visit Dosemarket.com.

Randolph Street Holiday Market

Get in the holiday spirit at this monthly bazaar. Grab gifts from vendors like Crosell & Co., The Green Door Vintage, Mott50, and many more — plus a host of artisanal sweets and treats — and have them wrapped up on site.

Date: December 16-17
Time: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Place: Beaux Arts Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington
Cost: $8, $10 at the door. For tickets, visit Randolphstreetmarket.com.

Christkindlmarket

This German-inspired fair runs all the way through Christmas Eve for last-minute shoppers, but it’s worth a trip for the experience alone. Food stalls offer everything from strudel and crêpes to stuffed gourmet pretzels and baked cheese, and a variety of live performances keep shoppers entertained.

Date: Through December 24
Time: 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Christmas Eve
Place: Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington
Cost: Free. For more information, visit Christkindlmarket.com.
