Fashion Recap: Oscars 2018

By / Style & Beauty / March 5, 2018

“The Shape of Water” took home the big prize — and rightfully so — but our eyes were on the red carpet. Here, our picks for the night’s fashion winners.

Jennifer Garner
The actress has literally never looked better than she did last night, rocking a cobalt blue Versace gown and a LOT of diamonds — as in, nearly a $1 million worth. Important note: She also became a viral meme. — Elle Cashin

Lupita Nyong’o
An absolute QUEEN walked the red carpet last night: The “Black Panther” star channeled the movie’s fictional setting of Wakanda in Vibranium by Versace. She also looked gorgeous in Armani Privé at the Vanity Fair afterparty. —EC

Gina Rodriguez
The “Jane the Virgin” star sparkled in a Zuhair Murad gown — and I got major Kim Kardashian vibes from her sleek middle-part pony tail. —Emma Jackson

Margot Robbie
Quite the departure from her rough-looking — but nomination-worthy — portrayal of Tonya Harding, the Aussie beauty rocked a white Chanel Haute Couture gown (which she mended herself after a wardrobe malfunction inside the theater). —EC

She can do no wrong on a red carpet. Though I would never have picked the chocolate brown Giambattista Valli Couture gown, she pulled it off flawlessly. Major props for such an interesting color choice, too. —EC

Tiffany Haddish
She looked like a goddess honoring her father’s Eritrean roots on the red carpet, but she also killed it onstage, presenting the award for Best Short Documentary and Best Live Action Short as her SNL/”Girls Trip” red carpet dress made its return, paired perfectly with Ugg slippers. —EJ

Armie Hammer
The “Call Me By Your Name” actor deserves kudos for showing up despite being having the stomach flu — and looking great, at that. His velvet maroon Armani tuxedo was a cool contrast to the norm. (His wife Elizabeth Chambers Hammer also looked gorg.) —EC

Betty Gabriel
The “Get Out” star —  a fresh face on the red carpet — absolutely stunned in Tony Ward couture. (It was like the classy 2018 update to J.Lo’s famously plunging Versace look.) —EC

Nicole Kidman
A mainstay on our best-dressed lists, she was the perfect picture of a Hollywood star in that navy number, complete with an oversized bow and stunning slit. —EJ
