It was an evening of tribute and celebration in the museum’s grand rotunda as 750 people gathered to support the museum’s annual Black Creativity program — a spotlight on the culture, heritage, and scientific contributions of African Americans. Held January 26, the gala raised $475,000 with the goal to help motivate youth in their pursuit of science, technology, engineering, art, and medicine. Over food and drink, guests explored the museum’s Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition and Innovation Studio, and the Chicago Children’s Choir and Nanette Frank Jazz Orchestra provided live entertainment. The gala was cochaired by Dr. Eric Whitaker, chairman and CEO of TWG Partners, LLC; Dr. Cheryl R. Whitaker, chairman and CEO of Next Level Health Partners, Inc.; and Cheryl Harris, senior vice president at Allstate Insurance Company.
