Artistry flourished at the annual gala held in support of one of Chicago’s most influential theater companies. More than 300 guests joined Lookingglass artists and honorees on April 5 at the University Club of Chicago for “Night Music: A Celebration of the Lookingglass Songbook.” Nearly $900,000 was raised for programs and performances, with notable guests including Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot, president and artistic director of Chicago Children’s Choir Josephine Lee (featured in our cover story), chef Rick Bayless, and philanthropist Ann Lurie. In addition to dinner, dancing, and an auction, Lookingglass artists performed original music and song. The impact of the event will be far and wide, as money raised goes to artist partnerships in 20-plus community-based organizations, and 70 classrooms across the city.
