It was a celebration of creativity and expression — and a commitment to our city’s continued support for its arts scene. Chicago Artists Coalition’s annual benefit, held June 6 at the CAC space in the West Loop, raised more than $100,000. About 300 guests turned out and honored the theme of a “paper” wedding anniversary (a nod to the one year CAC has been in its new home). Fanciful paper-inspired details popped up throughout the space, and guests were encouraged to get creative and dress and accessorize with paper. Chicago artist Hebru Brandley and design firm Gensler were honored, and notable guests included MoCP executive director Natasha Egan, Enrich Chicago executive director Nina Sanchez, Expo Chicago president and director Tony Karman, and artist Edra Soto. The evening was orchestrated by event cochairs Chanel Coney, and Timothy and Jessica Canning. Money raised will benefit CAC programs, exhibitions, and resources that help artists and curators live, work, and thrive in Chicago.
