Over 700 guests flocked together on July 12 for the annual Zoo Ball, hosted by the Women’s Board of the Lincoln Park Zoo. This year’s theme honored the Chilean flamingo and had the lush, colorful decorations to prove it. Along with food, drinks, a silent auction, and live performance from the Cat’s Pajamas, there was a surprise appearance by samba dancers, who migrated partygoers to the dance floor where celebrity DJ Madrid Perry reigned. Attendees included zoo president Kevin Bell and chairman of the board and Zoo Ball corporate chair Biff Bowman. Cochaired by Bonnie Kaufman and Ela Lewis, the ball was a success, raising nearly $1 million for the Women’s Board and its pledge to the Pride of Chicago campaign, which has transformed the entire north side of the zoo and includes upcoming renovations of the historic Kovler Lion House.
