Erin Reddy, 34, and Amit Marwah, 35, love to play bocce ball, so it’s only fitting he proposed during a game at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel (12 S. Michigan). “He had etched into a bocce ball, ‘Will you marry me?’ ” says Reddy, an education policy analyst. Afterward, Marwah — who works as a radiologist — gathered their families for a surprise dinner at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, Cindy’s.
Elizabeth Tulipana of Anticipation Events planned their two-day celebration in July, which included a Sangeet (Indian wedding pre-party) at Theater on the Lake (2401 N. Lake Shore) on Friday and a Sikh ceremony at Sheraton Grand (301 E. North Water) on Saturday morning. For Marwah’s Baraat, a procession in which the groom traditionally rides a horse, they rented a boat on the Chicago River instead. Saturday evening, the couple’s siblings officiated a civil ceremony at Architectural Artifacts (4325 N. Ravenswood), followed by bocce ball, dancing, and a family-style dinner catered by the Publican. They live in River North and honeymooned in Japan, splitting their time between Kyoto and Tokyo.
