The spotlights shined on the legendary Diana Ross as she serenaded partygoers at the sold-out dinner, celebrating the organization’s century-long contributions to communities around the city at the Hilton Chicago (720 S. Michigan) Nov. 19. The League’s president and CEO Shari Runner sparked conversation between guests about how to promote racial equality, and civil rights activist Spencer Leak Sr. was honored. The event, co-chaired by Anne R. Pramaggiore and Frederick H. Waddell, raised a record-breaking $2.65 million to support student, housing and entrepreneurship programs for more than 10,000 Chicagoans.
