Sugar skull centerpieces, a female mariachi band and margarita-bearing servers dressed as Frida Kahlo welcomed guests as they entered Revel Fulton Market (1215 W. Fulton Market) to celebrate the Pilsen museum’s 30th birthday May 5. Sandra Cisneros, Chicago native and award-winning author of The House on Mango Street, was honored with the Arthur R. Velasquez Award, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel was the honorary chair. The event — which raised $500,000 for the museum — was emceed by ABC 7’s Tanja Babich and co-chaired by Edith Diaz and Dusty Stemer.
