Design students from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago showed off their fashion-forward creations at Venue SIX10 (610 S. Michigan) May 5 for the 83rd annual event. Prior to the runway show — during which 20 students showcased avant-garde designs inspired by their personal experiences and social issues — SAIC Fashion Design Department Chair Nick Cave awarded graduate student Nick Mahshie a $20,000 fellowship to support his design work post-graduation.
