Though event planner Elizabeth Tulipana, 36, and chef Tom Bronny, 40, both work on weddings for a living, they didn’t envision a traditional celebration for themselves. “Neither one of us likes to be the center of attention [or] wanted to say our vows in front of 200 people.”
Tulipana — who owns Anticipation Events and is vice president of operations for hospitality group 16” on Center — met Bronny in 2014 while working together on the opening team at the Promontory. Now a chef at Big Delicious Planet, Bronny proposed with his grandmother’s emerald ring in December 2017, a week before they had planned to ring shop in New York City. While there, they picked out a modern hex-cut gray diamond solitaire. Tulipana wore both rings to their weekend of festivities, which kicked off at their Logan Square home with an outdoor ceremony and four-course feast for 14 family members with heirloom china and gold flatware from the bride and groom’s sides, respectively.
The next day, he suited up in a vintage Ralph Lauren tux and she rocked a lace-trimmed jumpsuit and fauxhawk to take photos at their neighborhood ice cream stand, the Freeze, before a cocktail party for 185 at Fulton Market Kitchen.
