Ever After: Emily Pare & Daniel Pelech

By Lisa Arnett / Latest / Weddings / June 12, 2019

After meeting at football tailgate during business school at University of Michigan, Emily Pare and Daniel Pelech fell fast for one another. “We went for one drink and we stayed for four hours,” says Pelech, 33, a VP in investment banking at Robert W. Baird & Co.

Pelech surprised Pare with an engagement ring as a birthday gift in December 2017. “I was waving my hands in the air saying, ‘Oh my gosh, this is happening!’ I couldn’t have been more excited’” says Pare, 37, director of sales operations for Trunk Club.

They married recently at Ovation Chicago in the West Loop in an unplugged ceremony—no cellphones allowed—with a bagpiper to honor Pelech’s grandfather, who played in the Canadian military. During dinner, dramatic greenery displays hung from the ceiling like floating centerpieces over wooden farm tables.

Pelech donned a custom Trunk Club suit and loafers with a subtle camo pattern and Pare wore a one-shoulder gown and sheer cape. “If only I could wear a cape every single day of my life!” she says. Their beloved dogs—Yoyo, a husky shepherd mix, and Roo, a German shepherd mix—were featured on a custom cake topper as well as in photos on their table numbers.
