Ever After: Kristin Oldach & Liam Montgomery
When Kristin Oldach and Liam Montgomery met online two years ago, they were admittedly burnt out on dating in the digital era. But on their first date, their connection was immediate. “We were attached at the hip ever since,” Oldach says. “It was kind of scary, but I think we both just kind of knew.”
Oldach, 38, is a textile designer with her own yarn company, Kraeo, and Montgomery, 41, works as a UX designer for Aon. Clad in a blush Reformation dress and a chambray Bonobos suit, they married September 28 in the backyard of their East Garfield Park home in the company of 38 family members and friends, including Oldach’s 8-year-old son, Bob.
They enlisted friends John Hughes of Chef on the Roof to cook dinner and pies for dessert and Christina Stelyn of Zin’s Flower Shop in Pilsen to decorate the yard with blooms and curly willow branches. “[She] turned our entire backyard into a fairy wonderland,” Oldach says. After a rainy morning, reprieve arrived just in time. “Right as we were saying our vows,” she says. “the sky opened up and the sun came out and it was just a miracle.”
